August 2012 Topbox

This month’s Topbox came a little later than normal because apparently they didn’t get a sample on time.  Luckily this month’s tube came with a decent amount of goodies so I would say it was well worth the wait.

Here’s what I got:

  • L’Eau de Chloe Perfumed Body Lotion Sample 30ml – Full size $60 (200ml)
  • Dot Marc Jacobs Eau de Parfum Sample 4ml. – Full size retail $79 (50ml), $105 (100ml)
  • Expression Blush Brush – Full size retail value $22.
  • Pink Wipe – 1 wipe – Full size 15pcs $12
  • Kellett Skincare Polishing Gel Cleanser Sample 10ml – Full size $45 (130ml)
  • BONUS ITEMS: Nexxus Therappe Shampoo 89ml and Humectress Conditioner 89ml

Not a bad box this month, it’s definitely more of a bath and body one I would say though.  The Chloe body lotion has a nice scent and Ziggy and Chase sure tried their hardest to lick it off me when I applied it.  I often find that perfume samples are usually lazy on beauty box company’s part, however, the Marc Jacobs sample is a great size, it’s similar to what you would get when you buy those perfume samples that come with a gift card for a full size at Shopper’s Drug Mart.

I wasn’t too impressed with the blush brush, which is too bad considering I loved the Expression bronzer brush that was included in the May box. To me, the brush just feels cheap.  I’ll be sticking to my tried and true Quo brush that I have had forever to regularly apply my blush.

The Kellett Polishing Gel Cleanser and the Pink Wipe was a little iffy, mostly due to the fact that I’m not sure where you use these products.  Well, I have somewhat of an idea but the card that Topbox supplies didn’t really go into too much detail on where you would use these.  Is the gel cleanser for your face?  Body?  And the Pink Wipe, well I’m assuming that is for your nether region…  kind of an odd sample to give away.

I would probably say my favourite sample would be the bonus Nexxus shampoo and conditioner samples, which were very generous.  You can never have too much shampoos and conditioners and these are the perfect size for travelling.

Overall, I’m happy with the box, I’ve had worse boxes and I’ve had better ones.  I hope the ones coming up offer more makeup products.  I’m so over the skincare and perfume samples.

Did you get August 2012’s Topbox?  If so, what were your thoughts?
