Shop MAC Lip Colour Haul

It has seriously been a year since I have last been excited about a MAC collection. Not since Quite Cute has anything even remotely interested me from any limited edition collection from the popular makeup brand.  Then, a few weeks ago my MAC dry spell was up. I was spending my lunch hour perusing through Temptalia and I saw the promo images for the MAC Shop and MAC Cook collections.  The images were so colourful and Stepford Wives-meets-hot mess that I had to continue reading.  I saw the promo shots of the colours and I was instantly hooked.

The collection launched on February 9 and I have literally been counting down the days until I could call my local MAC counter and ask them to put aside a few products.  I was seriously obsessed.  There was a preview event at some MAC stores on January 31 and I was stalking Specktra and Temptalia waiting for some swatches to see what the colours actually looked like.  Between the two collections I was interested more in Shop MAC as that contained all the lip colours.  Other products released were eyeshadow quads, cream blushes, Fluid Lines, beauty powders, brushes, and Tendertones, which I was kind of interested in getting, but $18 for a glorified lip balm, no thanks.

L to R: Quick Sizzle, Innocence, Beware!, Naughty Saute

I ended up picking up more than I thought I would.  I got three of the lipsticks, Naughty Saute, Innocence, Beware!, and Quick Sizzle, as well as a Kissable Lipcolour in Enchantee.

Naughty Saute on the lips

Naughty Saute was the colour I was the most excited for out of anything released with this collection.  The lipstick is a cremesheen finish, so therefore it’s buildable colour and quite glossy.  It is very pink and most people have been calling it a Pepto Bismol pink which I think does it justice.  If you are a devoted follower of this blog you guys know I love my pink lipsticks and whenever MAC releases a new baby pink I’m on it like my dog on chicken.  Since I work full time I called my local MAC counter at The Bay and got them to put aside two of them (one for me and one for my mom since she loves pink lipstick as much as I do).

L to R: Viva Glam Gaga I, Saint Germain, Naughty Saute, Enchantee (Kissable Lip Colour)

The colour is quite different than Viva Glam Gaga I, which is much softer.  It is also different than Saint Germain, which is more of a Barbie pink.  Also, VG Gaga, Saint Germain, and Naughty Saute are all different finishes so they look different on the lips as well.

The next colour I got was Quick Sizzle which seems to be the star lip colour from the collection.  I asked MAC to put aside this one as well but by literally 10:10 a.m. (the store opened at 10) they had one left so they couldn’t hold it for me.  When I got there a little after lunch it was sold.  They did let me try on the tester and offered to call a more popular MAC counter and they surprisingly had one, so they held it for me (the colour was actually sold out by the time I got to the other MAC counter).

L to R: Candy Yum Yum, Quick Sizzle

The colour has a matte finish so it goes on quite bold with tons of pigment on the first swipe.   The colour is also extremely long lasting and does leave a bit of a stain on the lips. I would describe the shade as a bright magenta pink with blue undertones. At first I thought it would be too similar to Candy Yum Yum from the Quite Cute collection as they are both bright darker pinks, but they are very different when compared side by side.

The last lipstick I got was Innocence, Beware! which is a pink nude colour, also a cremesheen.  Although I love nudes I wasn’t going to get this colour originally but when I tried it on I thought I might as well (also, The Bay has their Beauty Card event going on right now, when you spend $50 or more on cosmetics you get a $10 savings card on your next $50 beauty purchase, so therefore, because I was getting Quick Sizzle I thought I might as well spend a little more, get more products, and get $10 off).

L to R: Innocence, Beware!, Blankety, Myth

The colour, which is a repromote, is very wearable and will probably be the most used one out of the three for me.  It’s a really pretty nude colour with a shine to it because of it’s finish.  It’s not as concealer-looking as Myth and not as dark as Blankety.  I got the last one at the MAC counter I was at, but this is a really good one, I highly recommend it.

Enchantee on the lips

The last lip product I got was a Kissable Lip Colour in the colour Enchantee.  Kissable Lip Colours are not part of MAC’s permanent collection and retail for more than a lipstick (C$22.50 compared to C$17.50).  I really wanted to try one and loved the colour, so I picked Enchantee up.

The colour is like a baby milky pink, very similar to YSL’s Lingerie Pink.  It may look like a gloss with the long skinny tube and doe-foot applicator, but surprisingly applies and feels like a lipstick.  I’m not a huge fan of MAC’s Lipglass so I was very happy that it didn’t have the same sticky texture.  I really didn’t need another pink lipstick but since these are limited edition I couldn’t resist.

I chose to pass on the eyeshadow quads (even though the Colour Added quad was so tempting) and Tendertones because I felt that I didn’t really need anymore eyeshadows for the time being, as well as lip balms (I love my Rosebud Salve and EOS Lip Balms).  I don’t really need anymore lipsticks (especially pink ones) but lip colour is my weakness, I’m obsessed.  Plus, like I said, I haven’t shopped MAC in so long and I was literally counting down the days until this collection so I felt it was justified.

Oh, and I wasn’t the only one excited for Shop MAC, Ziggy couldn’t keep his excitement in check either.

Did you pick up anything from Shop MAC/Cook MAC?  If so, what did you get?  Also, did you pick up any of the lip colours?  What are your thoughts? Leave me a comment below!
